The Journey Begins

Who is __healthymumma?
I’m just your average, run of the mill, first time mum; a little insecure with a fierce desire to be the best mother I can be. But I suppose that’s not who I am. I’m Amy, a twenty something once sporty, vivacious individual, who somewhere along the way lost a little bit of zest – with the addition of a few extra kilos.
My professional life has been spent working in various roles in gyms, which has never lived up to my expectations or previous reality. My first proper fitness job was a role I loved! I worked in a company I felt passion for and I thrived and developed myself under what can only be described as a nurturing and unbelievably experienced professional. Whilst no one loves every single second at work I can truly say that leaving that position was the hardest decision of my professional life; and one I only made because my life was taking me overseas. I won’t go into too many boring details but my professional accreditation triumphs ultimately to a degree in health and exercise science and history of being a fitness instructor and personal trainer. Essentially my knowledge is second to none in this field, however my course has run a little ‘off’ over the last three years and my dedication to myself has been lacking – THIS NEEDS TO CHANGE!

Why blog?

As a society it’s clear we dehumanise our idols… we don’t want to aspire to be ‘flawed’ – we already know we are, so we gloss over that. But, in doing so everything we stand for thereby becomes unreal – it is unattainable. So I’m not going to do that. I want to see the RAW. I want to see the real and I want to know how the successful ones overcome their obstacles rather than dwell on them. I want to reinvent myself; I want to be the mother my daughter, and future children, are proud of; I want to lead by example; I want to leave survival mode and live!

Whilst it is highly unlikely anyone is or will read this blog, I have dedicated myself to it for myself. I want the RAW but I want the RAW that is overcome; I want to be the blog I need right now, because change can only come from ourselves. Fit chicks on ‘insta’ living their ‘best-lives’ are GREAT, but they cant change my reality. I have to do that… so I welcome myself to day 1 and the start of my first chapter in the rest of my story.
